Eric Piolle is the new Mayor of Grenoble, a French city located in the Alps and which is center of a 450 000 inhabitants urban area.
Eric Piolle is 42 and belongs to the Green party. He graduated in civil engineering and he is a former executive manager in a computer technology group.
He has also been involved in Unions and in several organizations such as Amnesty International.
He started to get involved in politics in 2010. His main goal for Grenoble is to initiate a social, democratic and ecological transition through local actions and innovations. He wants to improve the local democracy through participative budgets and independent citizen’s councils. He promotes sustainable transportation modes and enhanced an anti-advertising campaign replacing ads with trees in Grenoble.
