Ruth Otte leads Transdev North America’s marketing and communications efforts, responsible for corporate marketing and branding, internal and external communications, online and social strategy, and community engagement. Transdev is the largest private-sector operator of multiple modes of transportation in North America, including bus, rail, paratransit, shuttle, and sedan and taxi services. Globally, Transdev operates public transportation in 20 countries. The company is committed to being the trusted partner of cities, transit authorities, airports and universities through quality operational execution, outstanding customer service, and innovations in mobility.
Ruth leads the company’s efforts to build the Transdev brand, supports the business development team in proposal development, and helps build a high-performance culture through employee engagement programs and values-based leadership. She brings 25 years of experience developing some of the most successful brands in television and children’s media. She was President of The Discovery Channel for its first nine years, building the brand from relative obscurity to industry prominence. Ruth was a member of the original team that helped launch MTV in 1981, and worked in senior sales and marketing roles with MTV and VH-1. She was also President of Knowledge Adventure, a leading publisher of children’s educational software, and Executive Vice-President of Scholastic Inc., a leader in children’s book publishing and school-based educational programs.
