Stephanie Rust has been the Director of ISC’s Washington DC Office since 2011. In this role, she communicates the broad range of ISC’s domestic and international program portfolio, and manages key partner and funding relationships. She provides her expertise in project management to ensure smooth operation between and within the programs.
Prior to her current position, Stephanie served as ISC’s Regional Director for Europe and Eurasia managing a regional portfolio with activities in six countries and an annual budget of $6 million. She joined ISC in 2004 as the Country Director of ISC’s Macedonia office to run a complex five-year, $7 million civil society strengthening project. Stephanie has over 20 years of professional experience in the United States and 14 countries around the world providing training, consulting, and program design and management in the areas of democracy, education, environment and governance.
Stephanie has held previous senior management positions with the International Rescue Committee, The Nature Conservancy and the Initiative for Social Action and Renewal and has provided capacity building consulting services for a number of international development firms and NGOs. She has extensive experience working with USAID, European bilateral donors and the private sector.
Stephanie has a Master’s degree in International Training and Education from American University in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Northwestern University. She is fluent in Spanish, with a working knowledge of Macedonian, Portuguese, and Serbian.
